Church United is an Expanse Bible Church initiative to unite God’s church, which is all those in the world who believe in, and follow Jesus Christ. CU has started in San Antonio, though EBC would like to see the spirit of Church United expressed through partnerships globally. With San Antonio as the launching pad, churches all across San Antonio come together every second Thursday of the month for the purpose of worship. In Acts 2:1-47 we see the Holy Spirit descended in the midst of a united group of believers. These believers came from across the land and spoke in multiple different languages. This would lead us to believe that the listeners, as well as, the believers were of different regions, races, and backgrounds. A diverse group of believers coming together for worship; a worship that shook, and still is shaking the world. That is also our goal with Church United: to be a diverse group of believers from across San Antonio, coming together for the purpose of shaking the nation.
Expanse Bible Church was founded in 2021 by Levy Johnny Griffin, senior pastor, licensed in 2009 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and his wife Porshae Griffin, and son Xander Stovall. EBC is a non-denominational church whose mission is to expand the kingdom of God by teaching Jesus crucified, to love people through word and deed, and to plant evangelistic churches across the globe. EBC is currently evangelizing in schools, working with the San Antonio Food Bank to feed those in need and reach thousands weekly with the gospel of Jesus Christ through in-person encounters, text and email messaging, and social media videos, posts, and paid advertising. Levy & Porshae are actively serving in the United States Navy as Reservists and Xander is serving in the Marine Corps as a Reservist. Their motto is to serve God first and foremost and to also dedicately serve family, community, and country. Levy & Porshae have a podcast and web show entitled Word Today and Xander is attending UTSA and leading as a youth and young adult minister.
Vision: “For the city, not just in the city.”
The vision of Expanse Bible Church is to change the world through encounters. The more healthy churches there are the more people are likely to encounter a healthy churchgoer. A healthy churchgoer is someone that believes in Jesus, believes in living the way Jesus instructed, and is disciplined enough to do so more consistently. A healthy churchgoer will evangelize in his/her home, office, neighborhood, and circles. They will be bold in their faith and pronouncements of Jesus even to the extent of holding home bible studies and creating groups for the purpose of speaking the good news of Jesus Christ.
Every second Thursday of the month, Expanse Bible Church opens its doors and churches from all over San Antonio, Texas come together to worship, pray, and praise God. Praise teams come and sing, ministers come and pray, and families come to hear, and be healed. Church United has become such a phenomenon that it is lovingly known as Fire Night. Fire Night is the place where singing becomes praise, and hearts become free!
In the age of our parents, coming together as a single body of believers regardless of age, race, social class, background, region, or specific denomination was something that was both wanted and needed, yet many failed to make such unity come to fruition. HOWEVER, NOW, in a world, and climate where the popular political, social, and racial stance is hate, division, discreditaton, and destruction vs. love, togetherness, communication, community and faith, a unified front is no longer simply desired it is mandatory for the continuance of peace, and the continued peservereance of our united faith in Jesus. This is where YOU come IN!
We would love for you to come and partner with us in a night of celebrating the sacrifice, suffering, and resurrection of our king! We invite your praise team to join us in song and for your ministry and ministers to join us in facilitating prayer. GOD gets all the glory, honor and praise when we overcome boundaries and seek to glorify Him and Him alone. 1 Corinthians 12:4-31 is why Church United is so important!
1 Corinthians 12:12-14 KJV says,
“For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. For the body is not one member, but many.”
We would love for you and your church to be one member of the many, joining us in bringing the many together to worship God as one.
John 17:1 These words spake Jesus,... 20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; 21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
